Vintage Children's book: "Collier's Junior Classics, The Young Folks Shelf of Books" Volume 8, copyright 1962 by the Crowell-Collier Publishing Company, New York is a compilation of stories regarding famous people. See the picture of the table of Contents. Some of the stories are about such people as Helen Keller, Lou Gehrig, Florence Nightingale, Moses and Louisa Mae Allcott. These are not biographies, but are snipits of their lives...stories to make them more relivant to young readers. Also, this is not a "picture" book. There are some drawings along the way; however, it is primarily for the readers enjoyment and educaiton. I have no idea what happened to the other volumns of this wonderful book. Maybe your grandmother has the others! This offering is hard bound and well preserved. There are no tears, rips, repairs or writing in this volume that I can find. The book is 374 pages including the index and acknowledgement pages. It measures 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" and is 1 1/4" thick. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions you may have about this volume. It would be a valuable asset for the student needing to learn about a particular historic figure.
