milk glass berry dish, hobnail design
This piece is probably Fenton; however, there are no markings. Early on Fenton did not always place a mark on their milk glass. I have looked at all the little bowls I can find and no other maker has a small square bowl like this. It is 4" square and 1 3/4" tall. There are four rows of hobs on the sides and 39 hobs on the botton. This is exactly what the "official" description of the Fenton piece is suppose to have. The model number is 3928. Piece was made from January 1954 and December 1967. The top edge is crimped. This is a lovely piece. I have found a larger bowl which Fenton describes as a berry serving bowl. This was probably part of a set of larger bowl and this size for individual servings. There are two little "hobnails" on one corner that feel slightly rough, but no doubt could be buffed out. Otherwise there are no cracks, breaks or repairs to this vintage piece. Do you have the rest of the set? One get broken? Just like milk glass and have not seen this pattern?
